Wee Folk School is owned and operated by Evangelical Lutheran Church at the same location. Pastors visit with the children once a week for chapel. There is a teacher and an aide for each classroom. All teachers hold a bachelor's degree or higher and have a background in early childhood education. The school is licensed and approved through the MD State Dept of Education. The staff is trained and certified in CPR and First Aid. Parents must come in to drop off and pick up students. An audio/visual security system is used to enter the locked building. Snacks are provided by parents on a rotating basis. All children must be potty trained to enter the program with the exception of the two-year-olds. Enrollment begins in January for the following September. Children must be three- or four-years-old by Oct. 15 to enroll. To enroll in the 2's program, children must be two before Sept. 1. The T-5 class (for children just missing the kindergarten cut off or children not yet ready to enter kindergarten) is for older four-year-olds and five-year-olds. Classes are offered for 2 1/4 hrs. (2's), 3 hrs. (3's & 4's), and 3 1/2 hrs. (T-5). The 2's classes are offered on MW, TTh or F. The 3's classes are offered TTh, TWTh or MWF. The 4's classes are offered TWTh or M-F. The T-5 class is M-F. Registration is ongoing as long as spaces are available.
Rates: Monthly payments are $115 for one, $170 for 2 day (2's), $195 for two day (3's), $210 for three day (3's & 4's), and $265 for five day (4's). The transitional fives class is $285. There is a $100 non-refundable registration fee. Tuition discounts are offered for the enrollment of multiple children from the same family. Scholarships are available.
