For years now, I’ve heard so many people talk about how much fun the Turkey Hill Experience is to visit. This summer I decided it was time to find out for myself. My kiddos and I headed out on a Wednesday to find out what all the hype was about.
Like most kids, mine LOVE ice cream. They were so excited to learn about the process of making ice cream - and most importantly, eat a lot of ice cream!
To get in the ‘ice cream mood’ we listed to a kid’s podcast about how a brain freeze happens. You can find the podcast here. Upon arriving at the Experience, I was delighted to find parking was readily available.
We reserved our tickets in advance and within minutes were headed into the Experience. A variety of ticket levels are available and we went with the Triple Scoop Ticket which included admission to the Turkey Hill Experience, Turkey Hill Taste Lab and Tea Discovery taste testing all of the Turkey Hill teas. Both the Taste Lab and Tea Discovery have limited seating and often sell out in advance so reserving your tickets is highly recommended.
The experience is full of exhibits where your children can take a hands on approach to learning about life on a dairy farm, the story of Turkey Hill dairy and how ice cream and ice tea flavors are developed and created. In the exhibit area, my kids loved trying all of the different teas and sitting in the vintage milk truck. You can even star in your very own Turkey Hill commercial.
Our favorite part though was enjoying the unlimited samples of the ice cream. It was my first time trying the Graham Slam flavor and now I’m hooked.
After about an hour in the exhibit area, we headed to the Taste Lab where we were schooled in ice cream making all while developing our own ice cream combination. Everyone was handed a pint of chocolate or vanilla and then allowed to choose from a massive amount of flavorings, inclusions (think: wall of toppings) and variegates (sauces).
We left full of ice cream and sweet memories. The Turkey Hill Experience is located about an hour and 45 minutes from Frederick. If you find yourself anywhere near Lancaster County, PA, you must make a stop! Everyone screams for Turkey Hill ice cream!
I was provided with complimentary admission in exchange for my review. As always, opinions are 100% my own.
