Here are Macaroni KID Frederick's picks for the five things to do in Frederick and Mt. Airy with kids this week. Click on the links for all the details!
Humankind is the only animal on the planet which needs tools to survive. How did this happen? See for yourself with evolutionary anthropologist Mason Hintermeister, as he makes replicas of some of the most enduring forms of technology on the planet: stone tools.
2. Big Zines
Create your own mega magazine (zine) by learning a fun folding technique! Use watercolor to splash the zine with color and continue to add to it creatively while learning a variety of techniques.
Explore sculpting with wool! Needle felting is a process which transforms wool fibers by interlocking and condensing them to create 2D or 3D works of art! Work with colorful wool and felting needles to learn and practice techniques as you create a fuzzy felted friend.
4. The Force Has Arrived! An Intergalactic Celebration
This May, may the Force be with you! Prepare for a galactic surprise, as mysterious guests travel lightyears to be here and will make an appearance at the library. Come dressed as your favorite hero, villain, or droid, and get ready to explore the Force through the power of books, crafts and interactive activities that bring the galaxy to life. Bring your camera—members of the legendary 501st Legion will be descending upon the library for unforgettable photo opportunities!
5. Art-Ventures: Family Art Night - Daisy Rewilds
Inspired by the picture book Daisy Rewilds, participants will create a mixed-media flower using different types of paper and paint. The first of many May flowers!
