Top 10 of the Week

September 12th - 18th

  1. Storytime for Tots at St. John Regional Catholic  School - Join Mrs. Gawinske for Story-Time from 8:30-9:15 in Kate’s Kids located in St. Katharine Drexel. Storytime is geared towards kids 1-5 years old and held once a month during the school year. The program is free & open to the community. 
  1. Monday Mom Group at Rose Hill Manor and Park - Enjoy the company of other moms (or dads) while you and your kids explore the park and museums. Bring a stroller or carrier as we take a walk through the property enjoying the fresh air and beautiful scenery. Pack a lunch to enjoy at our picnic tables while the kids play with some of our outdoor games. 
  1. National Kids Take Over the Kitchen Day - Let them cook for you tonight! You're welcome.
  1. Family Storytime at Carroll Creek Amphitheater - Join us at the Carroll Creek Amphitheater for Family storytime presented in partnership with Downtown Frederick Partnership. Enjoy stories, fingerplays, rhymes, and more. For potential weather cancellations please check the website or call your local library. Ages 0-5.
  1. National Double Cheeseburger Day - Grab a burger at Wag's to celebrate.
  1. School Skills for Preschoolers at Walkersville Library - Preschoolers and their caregivers will practice school-readiness skills with cutting, tracing, play, and other literacy activities. 
  1. Fun Fridays for Kids at Frederick Social - Storytime and musical activities for kids with Mandy's School of Music.
  1. The Great Frederick Fair - Frederick County's single largest event, featuring 18,000 competitive exhibits, ranging from livestock, home arts, farm & garden to 4-H/FFA. A premier showcase for agriculture and education.
  1. Monarch Butterfly Tagging - Join ASCM for a fun family day of monarchs and community science at our Audrey Carroll Sanctuary. See monarch butterflies up close as we tag them to help Monarch Watch scientists learn more about this butterfly's extraordinary migration and conservation status. These amazing creatures will fly 2,000 miles to overwinter in central Mexico. Children will be able to learn more about the life cycle of the monarch and participate in a fun craft. People of all ages are welcome. Meet at 9 a.m. at the entry gate to the sanctuary at 13030 Old Annapolis Road (just east of Detrick Road) in Mt. Airy. The walk will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.

The Rainbow Fish Musical at Maryland Ensemble Theatre - Rainbow Fish is the most beautiful fish in the ocean, and the only one of their kind, When Rainbow Fish refuses to share their vibrant, shimmering scales, the whole ocean seems to turn against the vain creature. It takes a friendly little fish, a goofy starfish and a helpful octopus to teach the Rainbow Fish the value of friendship.
