I remember my clueless pre-kid self never understanding why my friends with children had such a hard time keeping their cars clean. The floors were always covered in crayons, remnants of smashed crackers were ground into the carpet and what seemed like 3,000 sippy cups would all roll around every time the driver hit the brakes. The outside of the vehicle always had a layer of dust with handprints and sometimes even words wrote in the dust on the back.
Fast forward a decade and now I’m driving that dirty mom-mobile. I’m not exactly sure when my car become a trash can on wheels, but lately it seems to have gotten worse. As a busy working mom with three kids, I just don’t have the time to clean my vehicle as often as I would like. It takes way too long to do the job at home and I don’t want to entertain my crew in a tiny waiting area for over an hour while someone else works on it. I’ve tried a few of the automatic car washes, but always pull away unimpressed by the weak vacuums and the layer of grime still on my car.
I might not stay on top of keeping my car clean, but I am faithful about getting regular oil changes. I always take my car to The Lube Center for their fast and convenient drive thru oil change service. Nobody has to get out of the car and my kids love watching the Oil Cam that shows the oil change going on under the car. They also offer juice, coffee, water, coloring books with crayons and dog biscuits so that every customer in the vehicle is happy and entertained!
One of the best parts of getting an oil change at The Lube Center is the coupon they give every customer for a free car wash at The Auto Spa or The Auto Spa Express. Eager to check out the brand new Auto Spa Express on Rt. 85 in Frederick, we headed that direction after our last oil change a few weeks ago.
I was practically giddy over the potential of having the elusive clean car without waiting hours for it. Upon arrival, we were offered a few different packages to choose from. I was pleasantly surprised with how affordable the options were. After choosing our wash, we rounded the corner, pulled up to the tunnel, put the car in neutral and sat back to let The Auto Spa Express do its job.
My kids were in awe of the car wash tunnel. It was hilarious to see their faces light up with all of the colors being sprayed on our car and the sounds of water and blowers all around us. My son said he felt like the machines were finger painting on our car and he was inside the painting.
Our time in the tunnel went by in a flash and upon exiting we were directed to the area with free vacuums, mat cleaners, microfiber cloths and blowers (to get those stubborn dust bunnies out of your vents). The vacuums are powerful - I easily sucked up 540 pieces of cereal in the blink of an eye. Tip: turn it into a game and get your kids involved to speed up the process. There are vacuums on each side of the car so it’s easy to make it a race to see who can clean their side first. You save time and they have a blast. Huge mom win.
I left with my first clean car in years and now every time we drive past The Auto Spa Express my kids ask if we can stop and get the car washed. It’s obvious that so much attention went into making The Auto Spa Express a fast and convenient service for everyone. I’m such a better mom when my surroundings are clean and organized - and since parents spend so much time in their cars commuting and playing taxi driver, you owe it to yourself to feel good in your own car! I’m even thinking about getting a few of the monthly memberships as holiday gifts this year for my husband and my kids’ teachers. With the monthly membership you can wash once a day, every day for a low monthly fee with some great perks: $10 off oil changes at The Lube Center, a variety of membership levels and a members only express lane to save you time. Memberships are available for all of The Auto Spa and The Auto Spa Express locations.
