Summer Reading Programs

Looking for ideas to keep your child engaged in learning this summer? Then take advantage of the many FREE summer reading programs!


Frederick County Library

Get in the game! Take the Summer Challenge and see if you have what it takes to be an FCPL All Star in this free summer learning program for kids, teens, and adults. Complete 2 activity tracks online or with your gameboard to earn your halfway prize. Complete 4 activity tracks online or with your gameboard to finish the program, earn a free book, a scoop of Bruster’s Ice Cream, and entry into monthly prize drawings. Finishers can become MVPs by continuing play online for more chances to win prizes by completing 5 or more activity tracks!


Barnes & Noble

Barnes and Noble summer reading program is back. Join their Summer Reading Triathlon and your child will earn a free book after 8 books are read over the summer. There are many free books to choose from and there's something for every kid in grades 1-6. This summer reading program runs May 17 - September 6, 2016.


Scholastic

Scholastic is offering a summer reading challenge where kids can read and then go online to record the minutes they've read this summer. They'll also be able to take weekly challenges to earn rewards. This summer reading programs runs May 9 - September 9, 2016.


Book It! (Pizza Hut's Program)

Check out the site later this month for more info. Kids who participate in the Book It! Pizza Hut's Ignite a Summer of Reading program can enjoy fun activities, play games, and have the chance to gather some  prizes.


Book Adventure through Sylvan

Book Adventure is a fun, free way to motivate your child to read! Kids in grades K-8 can search for books, read them offline, come back to quiz on what they’ve read, and earn prizes for their reading success.


Pottery Barn Reading Club

Take your child to at least five of the Pottery Barn Kids Summer Book Club meetings and gets them marked in a Book Club Passport, which is available from an associate at a Pottery Barn Kids near you.

Chuck E Cheese

Chuck E. Cheese has a summer reading program where kids can earn free 10 Chuck E. Cheese tokens for reading each day for 2 weeks.


PBS and Education.com

Stop by Education.com this summer for a 10 Week D-I-Y Camp filled with hands-on activities and learning resources that coincide with our great PBS KIDS content.
