Do You Have a Legal Will in Place?

Review: Ethridge, Quinn, Kemp, McAuliffe, Rowan & Hartinger

There are numerous reasons people delay writing a will: nobody likes to think about his or her own mortality, expense, lack of time, and the list goes on. However, do you really want the courts to decide what happens to your property and children? Regardless of whether or not you are married, have children, or are single, having a will in place is the single most important thing you can do to make sure your loved ones and estate are protected after you pass away.

My husband and I were both in need of a will, and after putting it off for way longer than I care to admit, we reached out to Kate Wright, an associate with Ethridge, Quinn, Kemp, McAuliffe, Rowan & Hartinger. The firm has locations in both Frederick and Rockville.

I have a more flexible schedule than my husband, so I met with Kate on my own for our first meeting to discuss the exact wishes we wanted expressed in our wills. Kate took the time to go through the details of the wills line-by-line. She was informative, extremely patient, and precise. She directed me through a series of questions and even brought up a few points we had not even considered.

One of the main things I appreciated in working with Kate was that she explained things on an everyday level without going into extensive legal jargon. I was in and out within thirty minutes and she had drafts of the wills to us in less than a week.

After reviewing the drafts of our wills, my husband and I sat down with Kate, a notary, and two witnesses. In less than fifteen minutes, we signed off on our wills. Our wills were then filed with the county and a few days later we received copies of the signed documents.

Completing our wills lifted such a huge weight off of our shoulders. A plan was in place for our family. The process of creating the wills was so much simpler than we could have ever imagined.

If you are one of the millions of people without a legal will, I highly recommend you reach out to Kate Wright. If you are in need of additional legal services, Kate and the other attorneys with Ethridge, Quinn, Kemp, McAuliffe, Rowan & Hartinger cover a wide range of legal areas. I found everyone I dealt with at the practice to be extremely helpful and professional.
